EN / Erik Skodvin's compositions sound something like Death’s gondola gliding through purgatory, gradually building into a dense, chattering cloud of torment before dropping into bleak stillness. As a member of Deaf Center he already was an expert in depressing and melancholic electronica, but it was not until SVARTE GREINER came into existence that he truly showed how devastating his music can be. Dark, menacing acoustic doom more scary than about any horror movie you've ever seen. He also runs the aesthetically exquisite Miasmah label, which is the home to Greg Haines, Jasper Tx and Kreng. MONTAUK IN FEBRUARY is the audiovisual dark ambient project of Pierre de Mûelenaere, curator of Spank Me More records. He'll be presenting his debut cd “Broken City Heart”, an 18 minute piece based on the sounds recorded at night at the immense construction site of Toison D'or and with the help of Nils Frahm on piano and Valentin Delecourt on vibraphone. Influenced by contemporary artists like Xela and Machinefabriek, his performance will make a wonderful dark drone trip. Sabrina Harri and Yannick Frank - who you should remember from his session at les ateliers claus with Maxime Le Hung, Sylvain Chauveau, ... - will also perform as GHOST OF WATARI. An audiovisual performance, immersive, industrial and dark.
NL / Erik Skodvin ofte SVARTE GREINER is de helft van Deaf Center. Een band uit Noorwegen gespecialiseerd in depressieve en melancholische electronica. Solo gaat de man nog een stap verder richting duisternis. Zijn platen uit 2006 en 2009 werden telkens omschreven als de meest angstaanjagend plaat van het jaar en bestaan uit ontstemde cello's, ratelend metaal, kreunend hout, tonnen feedback, alles wat moeiteloos je haren rechtop laat staan uit pure angst. Donker, intens en ontzettend bedwelmend. De artistieke visie van het fantastische Miasmah label neemt hij ook voor zijn rekening. Zo vonden Greg Haines, Jasper Tx en Kreng onderdak bij hem. MONTAUK IN FEBRUARY is het audiovisuele project van Pierre de Mûelenaere, die ook Spank Me More records in goede banen leidt. Op dat label verschijnt zijn debuutplaat “Broken City Heart”. Een 18 minuten durende dark drone waarin de piano van Nils Frahm en de vibrafoon van Delecourt gecombineerd worden met nachtelijke opnames van de gigantisch bouwwerf aan Toison D'Or, Brussel. Beïnvloed door artiesten als Xela en Machinefabriek, belooft dit een heerlijke streep ambient te worden. Tot slot zal Sabrina Harri samen met Yannick Frank als GHOST OF WATARI hun donkere audiovisuele set voor de eerste maal live brengen. Donker, angstaanjagend, dreigend, ... de ideale manier om aan de Sint te ontsnappen?
